When I first started out in Weddings somebody said to me that candid wedding photography would never take off. Nobody in their right mind would want to pay for pictures that their friends and family could take with their cameras. Shooting a wedding from the guests perspective? 'Madness' they said. So from that day on I began my mission, to seek out like minded couples who were keen to move away from the from the more traditional 'posed' photography that made them feel like their day was more of a photo shoot rather than their wedding.
As a documentary wedding photographer, making candid images like this during your wedding day is the very reason I shoot weddings. When the images are woven together in sequence they collectively tell the story of your day in complete candidity... I'm not altogether sure if that's actually a word, but I like it!
I want to give all my couples beautiful uncontrived storytelling documentary photographs and I want the liberating experience of hiring a documentary wedding photographer to be one of the reasons that couples want to book me.
This image of beautiful Sonia was taken during morning bridal preparations. I love that it's real. That heart shaped balloon. The stillness of the moment. I think they were discussing the weather, you can't see, but it was raining. I love that Sonia is unaware I am making this into a picture for her. I love the light and I love how this makes me feel.
This was such a wonderful wedding to be a part of and it was great to work alongside the lovely Lucinka Hodnett who is also in the picture, making Sonia even more beautiful than she is already.
If you are thinking less about posing and more about authenticity, please contact me I would love to hear your plans and join you on your wedding journey.
